Mis líneas de investigación se han enfocado en analizar los efectos de la evolución, poliploidía e hibridación sobre los cromosomas, tamaño del genoma y secuencias repetidas de ADN en distintas especies de plantas nativas así como el establecer relaciones evolutivas entre las especies y su diversidad genética. Trabajo tanto con especies de monocotiledóneas (Paspalum) como dicotiledóneas (Oxalis, Arachis) y utilizo diferentes abordajes moleculares, principalmente genómicos y transcriptómicos, pero también de citogenética clásica, citogenética molecular y citometría de flujo.
